The Used Tack Store at CTRA
The “Jane James Used Tack Shop” is now open!
The used tack store (named after founder Jane James) is open 11am – 1pm on Saturdays. As our store is volunteer operated, it is a good idea to call and confirm our hours prior to making a trip out. If you wish to visit the store outside of these designated hours please call ahead to make an appointment with our staff. (250-746-1028)
The used tack store sells an assortment of saddles, bridles, and various other horse equipment in good used condition. All proceeds from sales in the used tack store benefit CTRA.
Thank you sincerely to volunteers Jane James, Loree I’Anson, and Val McKay for making this important fundraising project possible.
The “Free Horse Stuff Store” at CTRA

This Spring, CTRA was pleased to open our “Free Horse Stuff Store” out of our facility. The free store is a community initiative designed to de-construct the economic barriers that divide the equestrian community.
As any “horse person” will tell you, horse ownership and equestrian activity can be very cost prohibitive. However, as horse owners and equine enthusiasts, we often have more than we need. The free store offers our community a place to take what they need, and give what they can. If you need something horse-related, we invite you to check here first. There is no expectation of need or retribution – simply “pay it forward” in our community by donating something back in the future or passing along something else to someone else in need, wherever they may be.
If you are thankful for the experience of the free store we do provide users with a donation tin if you would like to donate to this community initiative or the program generally.
The free store is open daily (except holidays) from 9 – 4. It is located within the CTRA facility at the base of the stairs and near the entrance to the indoor arena. The site is unsupervised so help yourself but do not be afraid to pick up a brochure or talk to staff about our program.
Donations of Tack/Horse Equipment to CTRA
CTRA gratefully accepts donations of tack and horse equipment. According to need and suitability, your donation will be used in one of three ways:
* the tack/equipment will be used directly in the CTRA program
* the tack/equipment will be sold in the used tack store and the proceeds from this sale will benefit CTRA. CTRA does not offer consignment opportunities.
* the tack/equipment will be reincorporated into the community via the free store.
If you have a desire for your donation to be used in a particular fashion please make us aware of this prior to donating your items.
As a registered charity, CTRA is able to offer tax receipts for donations of a suitable nature. Donations requiring a tax receipt should be arranged in advance with a CTRA staff member.
All donations can be left with CTRA staff during our daily operational hours of 9-4.
