Horses
Our therapy horses are very special animals. Therapy horses are carefully chosen with a number of important considerations in mind. Like other performance or pleasure horses, CTRA horses are selected for their physical suitability, their “way of going,” and their training background. However, given the important job that our therapy horses do, our horses must also posses a kind disposition, a dependable nature, excellent instincts, and an affinity for people. Only safe, reliable horses who love their work are used in our program.
We work very closely with our therapy horses and pride ourselves on the care given to these special companions. CTRA believes that in order to be great at their job, therapy horses have to be healthy and happy. We have anywhere from 10 – 15 horses and ponies at any given time, depending on herd dynamics and the demands of our program. Our horses come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and abilities in order to cater to the many different needs of our clients.
